Jillian and Zach’s modern art museum wedding was in October. They got married at the Mint Museum Uptown, which is one of my favorite Charlotte venues. We had the opportunity to get some incredible portraits at the museum, and then their ceremony was on the rooftop!
The day started off with the couple getting ready separately at the venue. They wanted to go for a “moody, modern romance” vibe (Jill’s own words!) and used a jewel-toned color palette. Bridesmaids were decked out in emerald green velvet dresses, and the groomsmen looked sharp in black tuxedos with emerald green bow ties. Once they were ready, I was able to get some really great detail shots (which are my JAM!) around the museum. There is some spectacular architecture and, of course, stunning art installations that are perfect for detail photos.
Jillian and Zach chose to do a first look just outside a gallery. I LOVE the shots we got of them with art pieces all around. Afterward, they exchanged private vows. This was a really unique and personal part of their day. They took some time together, just the two of them, and read each other their handwritten vows on the rooftop before their ceremony. This was such a tender and sweet moment in the day, and I love how they made space for just them.
The rooftop ceremony overlooked the city and fit the moody, modern romance vibe perfectly! They wed in front of a simple gold arch decorated in their jewel-toned florals. Candles and even more gorgeous flowers lined the aisle. Immediately following the ceremony, we headed off for portraits. The city is an especially good place for photos because you don’t have to walk far to get a completely different look, and that’s just what we did for Jillian and Zach. The surrounding neighborhood gave us plenty of incredible locations for portraits.
It was finally time to party and celebrate the couple! Their reception was filled with SO much dancing and incredible food. The guests were such a fun bunch and were down to celebrate! The drinks were flowing, the food was great, and the dance floor was open! They shared traditional dances with their parents and their first dance as a married couple before guests joined them to dance away the rest of the night.
I had a great time at Jill and Zach’s modern art museum wedding, and I was so excited to be able to shoot again at one of my favorite venues in North Carolina. I would love to help you capture your moments as you celebrate. If you’re looking for a wedding photographer, I would love to connect and get you on the books!
