Prepare yourself for this wedding; it’s one to remember! Sanem and Matt are two of my FAVORITE humans, and I am so thrilled I was a part of their Toolbox DC wedding. From the incredible ceremony and reception venue to the art gallery at their hotel, it was the perfect day!
Sanem and Matt got ready with their friends and family at The Ven at Embassy Row. One of the cool things about this hotel is that there is an art gallery there! Hello, photographer’s dream! I just love the color and feel of the gallery in their photos. We got some really fun photos with members of the bridal party in one of the art exhibits.
Matt and his groomsmen looked handsome in classic black tuxedos. The inner liner of Matt’s was customized, which is such a great personal touch. Sanem’s white gown had a lace bodice and a short train. She opted for nude block heels and a delicate hairpiece with drop earrings. Her bridesmaids wore black tuxes and dark green dresses. The bridal party carried beautiful white florals with greenery that included eucalyptus.
Their venue had such cool vibes with exposed brick and large windows. The space was decorated with string lights and a few large floral pieces. It has an industrial feel that makes for such fun and unique photographs. The ceremony space was converted into the reception, with tables decorated in white floral centerpieces. After the reception, they moved the party back to The Ven to really celebrate. They have incredible taste in music, choosing both an acoustic cover of Motorcycle Drive By by Third Eye Blind and an Avett Brothers song during their ceremony.
Right after I delivered their gallery, Sanem sent me these words that reminded me about why I love my job so much as a destination wedding photographer:
“We just went through them all and oh my god Katelyn!!!! We laughed, we cried, we laughed some more at the drunkenness. I won’t be able to adequately put into words how amazing you are and the impact you’ve made! You are a storyteller and a joy bringer. You captured each and every moment perfectly. It’s like you pulled the emotions from the day out of our heads and immortalized them in photos. You brought out the best in everyone not just aesthetically but by being so kind and comforting and open to the shenanigans of our group that nobody held back. I’m so glad you were up to traveling to DC because I wholeheartedly couldn’t imagine anyone else being there with us!!!!!
Can’t wait to regurgitate this love letter over drinks when you visit dc in some hopefully not so distant future!!!!”
Matt and Sanem are such a fun and goofy couple. They are easy to be with, and celebrating with them at their Toolbox DC wedding was incredible. I’d love to come celebrate with you and capture your own incredible memories. If you’re planning a wedding, reach out, and let’s get you booked!
