You are in for such a treat with this downtown engagement session. We did Rachel and Tomer’s shoot in downtown Charlotte, and it is STILL one of my favorite sessions from all of 2022. I am so excited to be sharing it with you today! 

Charlotte is a beautiful city, and it’s not hard to find great places to photograph my clients in the downtown area. During this shoot, we embraced all the city had to offer and made a lot of stops to capture some really great photos together. I absolutely LOVE the cinematic, magical feeling of their gallery and how all these photos came out! 

We walked around the city together, stopping at a few places along the way. As a Charlotte wedding photographer, I love doing walking engagement sessions because it keeps things casual and comfortable. We always have a really great time together and often have a fun story to tell or get some shots in a surprising area. This time, it was super dark and cloudy during our time together, but we missed the storm. It started POURING right after we finished!! Kismet. 

Our first stop was the La Belle Helene patio. This was a great stop for some shots of the ring while they were holding hands. There was an overall casual vibe here, and Rachel and Tomer were having lots of fun together. I LOVE her shades she wore during the shoot. They kept their outfits very bridal with her in a white, off the shoulder dress and white heels, accented, of course, with her killer retro-inspired shades. Tomer looked classy in a suit and tie. They were elegant and chic, just perfect for a downtown engagement session! 

As we headed to our second stop, I got some shots of them walking through the city. I like to play around with focus and motion during these kinds of shoots, and I just love how the photos turn out. Our second location was The Ivey’s Hotel, and we hit up their bar, Sophia’s Lounge, while we were there. We got some shots in the lobby and the elevator before heading to the bar. There is a really cool staircase we used to get some awesome shots. 

Overall, this was such a fun downtown engagement shoot and I LOVE how the photos turned out. The best part is, this was just the beginning of working with Rachel and Tomer because I got to shoot their wedding, too. I can’t wait to share their special day with you in a few weeks. It was a day to remember for sure!
