I loved every second of photographing Ginger and Evan’s Cannon Room wedding. When Ginger reached out to me about being her North Carolina wedding photographer, I was excited from day one. She had a really clear vision for her day, and I could just see it all coming together.
Ginger used to work as a wedding florist, and that helped her to create a clear idea of the vibe she was going for and how she wanted the day to feel. She really wanted to focus on creating a cool vibe and aesthetic with her wedding flowers. And she did! The florals were stunning and were a big part of the feel of the spaces for the ceremony.
It was really important to Ginger and Evan to do what they wanted on their big day. I love that they weren’t afraid to really do the things that made them feel great. During the ceremony, they had everyone stand. It felt so special and intimate to have everyone gathered around rather than sitting in rows. The guests felt more like a part of the ceremony instead of just spectators. This was such a unique touch to the wedding and created such a great atmosphere.
The wedding day felt like a cozy, funky, retro library. There were lots of books and candles adorning the tables alongside the bright florals. Another way they made the day their own was by changing into matching sweatsuits during the reception. Love, love, LOVE. The vibe was totally relaxed, and they just celebrated with all their favorite people.
The Cannon Room is on the top floor of The Capital Club building in downtown Raleigh. It has an unmatched view, especially at sunset, when the room is flooded with stunning golden light. A photographer’s dream! The space is really modern and clean, featuring a built-in bar that I love. We took first look portraits in the lobby because it is stunning. The elevator is also gorgeous, and I love how those photos turned out, too! It is located in the perfect area to take a stroll through downtown Raleigh for couples portraits, which we did later in the evening.
I had such a great time photographing Ginger and Evan’s Cannon Room wedding. It was such a blast, and I can’t wait until I can shoot there again!
