Destination weddings have become increasingly popular over the past few years, and for good reason. They offer a unique and unforgettable experience that you simply can’t replicate with a traditional wedding. In this blog post, we’ll explore the reasons why couples should choose to have a destination wedding. If you know anything about me, you know I’m a fiend for travel, so travel and weddings together are one of my favorite things!
If you’re inviting guests to your destination wedding, then you’ll get to spend so much more time with them compared to a traditional wedding day! Often destination weddings are multi day celebrations with all of your favorite people, instead of having just a rehearsal dinner and the wedding day together. You can also enjoy some unique experiences together that wouldn’t be otherwise possible if you were at home- such as snorkeling, exploring the local food scene, and sightseeing together. If you’re eloping and it’s just going to be the two of you, start your honeymoon early and get married abroad for more magical vacation time!
Destination weddings are unrivaled in terms of providing a once-in-a-lifetime special celebration. They provide a chance to create memories that will last a lifetime, in a stunning location that’s special to the couple. The location sets the tone for the entire event- the beauty of the surroundings will provide the perfect backdrop for the ceremony and create a magical atmosphere for the couple and their guests. Whether it’s a wedding in Tulum at Kima or a castle in Scotland, a destination wedding is sure to be a truly unique and unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
Destination weddings are typically smaller and more intimate affairs, with only close family and friends in attendance. This creates a more personal and intimate setting, where the couple can truly enjoy the company of their loved ones without feeling overwhelmed by a large guest list. So often at larger weddings I see couples who don’t get to eat dinner, or feel like they have to be making rounds constantly just to say hi to everyone in attendance- intimate destination weddings are much more relaxed.
This sounds wild, but think about it: a HUGE cost factor in traditional weddings is the catering and bar for your guests. When you’re inviting one hundred and fifty people, that’s thousands of dollars! While it may seem counterintuitive, destination weddings can actually be more cost-effective than traditional weddings. Since the guest list is typically smaller, the overall cost per guest can be much lower.
I mean, it’s totally up to you….but spending a few days in an incredible place with your favorite people sounds like the best thing ever. If you decide to move forward with planning a destination wedding, here’s another blog I wrote about how to choose your destination wedding photographer!
